Summary from Goodreads:
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.
Review (100 words):
This book blends a whole bunch of things that I hold close to my heart: true crime, historical fiction and young adult romance. The Victorian world that Maniscalco creates is one that you almost want to live in, and Audrey Rose is the strong heroine that everyone wants to be. It's a fresh new take on the teen historical fiction genre and one that can appeal to teens and tweens alike. While it may not be the most perfect form of this genre, it is a fun read that lingers in the mind and has me reaching for the sequel!
